Well, we might as well put it all out on the table. Our Creative Director, Jenn is on her way to the 2015 Cannabis Cup in Denver, Colorado this weekend. You read that right. Cannabis—weed, pot, dope, ganja, herb, green, grass—whatever you kids call it these days (but seriously, what do you kids call it these days?). Trust us, this is for business.
Marijuana is now the nation’s fastest-growing industry. And it’s no surprise, really. As of this year, 23 states have legalized medical marijuana and four states plus the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana. A recent Pew Research Center survey finds that 53% favor the legal use of marijuana, while 44% are opposed. These numbers have drastically changed since 2006, when just 32% supported marijuana legalization. The times they are a-changin’.
As nationwide support increases, the marijuana industry will undoubtedly become more and more competitive. Sure, weed pretty much sells itself, but so does beer or even shampoo for that matter. You need both. We’ll be honest; we don’t specialize in cannabis. We do know however, that 64% of consumers try a new product because the package catches their eye. In addition, 75% of web users judge a company’s credibility based on their website’s design, according to a Stanford study.
Although we’re not too sure what the “cool” name for marijuana is these days, we are extremely confident in helping our clients grow their businesses through smart design and branding. At Peppermill Projects, we understand that all cannabis connoisseurs do not fit into the frat-boy, Bob Marley-loving, stoner stereotype. We want to shift that perception by designing upscale brands for discerning customers.
