Prime Extracts
Prime Extracts entered a newly legalized and highly regulated medical cannabis market while the industry was still taking shape and many brands were either underdeveloped or leaned heavily into stereotypical, recreational aesthetics.
The goal was to take a different approach. In a medical-only environment, the brand needed to feel credible, grounded, and trustworthy while still standing out in a crowded and rapidly evolving category.
I led the development of the brand from the ground up, including naming, positioning, and product strategy. The name “Prime” was chosen to signal quality, precision, and refinement, helping establish a brand with a more elevated and credible presence.
Because the market was new, the visual and verbal language had to do more than differentiate. It needed to build trust. The challenge was to create something that felt appropriate for a medical context without becoming cold or overly clinical, while also leaving room for the brand to evolve as the market expanded.
We defined a foundation built around three core ideas: purity, transparency, and helping customers understand what they’re buying.
That thinking carried through to the product itself. Packaging became a key part of the experience. Required lab information was organized into a clear, structured system that made terpene and cannabinoid profiles easier to understand. A color-coded approach extended across products, allowing customers to quickly identify strains, even after the outer packaging was removed.
The result was a brand that stood apart in an emerging category, combining credibility and clarity with a modern, minimalist, elevated approach, while making the product easier to navigate and understand.
