Maryland Hall

Maryland Hall is a community arts center offering classes, performances, and exhibitions across a wide range of disciplines, from visual arts to theater, music, and dance.

The challenge was how to represent that breadth in a clear and cohesive way. The existing identity relied on a mix of literal symbols, attempting to represent each discipline individually. The result felt dated and fragmented, and didn’t reflect the full experience of the organization.

Rather than continuing to represent the arts literally, the rebrand focused on the building itself. Housed in an historic building, Maryland Hall Maryland Hall is a recognizable part of the community. The new identity draws from the arches of the architecture, creating a more flexible and unifying symbol of the space and the creative activity it holds.

This shift allowed the brand to move away from trying to represent the arts literally, and instead create a clear, recognizable system that can support a wide range of programming.

Paired with the tagline “Art for All,” the refreshed identity emphasizes accessibility, connection, and the role of Maryland Hall as a place where the community comes together through the arts.
